Verizon’s $15M Settlement OK’d In Pay Stub Class Action

Law360, Los Angeles (October 21, 2014, 4:17 PM ET) -- A California judge on Monday approved a $15 million settlement that would resolve a class action accusing Verizon California Inc. of issuing inaccurate wage statements that excluded crucial information that made it impossible for employees to determine whether they had been paid properly. 

Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff approved plaintiffs' Oct. 10 motion for an order to preliminarily approve the settlement and continue to certify the proposed settlement class, which consists of employees paid biweekly in California who received itemized income statements from Verizon between Apr. 1, 2009, and May 2011.

 

 

 

 

 

Verizon Faces Class Action Over FiOS Bundling Charges

Law360, New York (July 1, 2013, 3:22 PM ET) -- Verizon Communications Inc. is accused of reneging on promises of discounts and gifts for New Jersey customers who bought bundled FiOS phone, television and Internet service, according to a proposed class action removed Thursday to federal court. 

Dr. Arno Mayer, a Princeton University historian, claims that two subsidiaries of the telecommunications giant have for years operated a fraudulent “bait-and-switch” operation to induce customers of its traditional landline or copper cable telephone service to switch to getting telephone, television and Internet services through FiOS, which the company began installing in 2006.
